A few weeks ago my friend and I had the day off work. Lately, the two of us had been trying different running routes through the city; sometimes trails, other times bridges. But this particular day called for rain, so we had to come up with a new plan to work up a sweat.
We woke up early, drove into Georgetown, and tried our first SoulCycle class!
If you haven’t heard of SoulCycle before, look it up (or just click this link, hehe). It’s a 45-minute, indoor cycling class that doesn’t just focus on legs, but works out your whole body (you even use hand weights at one point).
The day we went to try the class out was a (semi)holiday, so it was packed! But the great thing about their classes is you are assigned a bike number. That way you’re not fighting others in the quest to get a bike next to your friend.
Classes are usually $30, but since it was our first time, it only cost $20. Yes, 20 bucks is still a lot for a first time spin class, but they do supply you with bike shoes and a towel… as well as a kick-ass workout! They even clean all the equipment for you, so you aren’t stuck there rubbing down your bike with a tiny, half wet towelette.
If your budget can handle the price, you can easily make the workout worth it! I don’t know the last time I sweat that much and felt so good after a workout. They turn out the lights, the room is only light by candles, and they have the best jams blasting! No joke, it took a bit of willpower not to sing along… although my heavy breathing and gritted teeth helped to keep that at bay.
Try out SoulCycle and let me know what you think!
