DELICIOUS DINNER | Sequoia on the Georgetown Waterfront in DC

Sequoia DC

One of the boyfriend’s and my favorite places to go is to the Georgetown Waterfront. There are many reasons for this:

1) It’s right on the water (obviously), so it’s beautiful
2) They have amazing restaurants!
3) It’s one of the places we went on our first date for an after dinner drink, so it brings back fond memories

So it was last Friday night, and instead of being the “old” couple that we can sometimes be (drinking wine on the couch, watching a movie, and being asleep by 9:30pm), we decided to mix it up a bit and “hit the town”.

We tried to make reservation at Farmers Fishers Bakers (if you haven’t been there before, you are missing out!), but sadly there were no reservations left. So, we thought we would branch out a bit and try Sequoia for dinner, since we’ve only ever had drinks there.

It was nice and quiet in the restaurant that evening, which was perfect to help us unwind after our hectic work week. We sat right along the windows, looked out across the water, and had a smooth red wine to help warm us up.

For dinner I ordered the pan-seared salmon with cauliflower puree, caramelized shallots and mustard sauce.

The boyfriend selected the jerk berkshire pork tenderloin with sweet plantain mash.

Everything looks delicious on the menu, so make sure to take a good look at it before going! I usually share my dish with the boyfriend, but the salmon was just too good to share… Whoops :)

After dinner we went upstairs to their bar where I ordered up a Storm Watch (gosling black seal rum, Bacardi gold rum, spicy ginger syrup, lime juice, and ginger beer). It was so mighty tasty, I had two :) Naughty I know.

The boyfriend and I enjoyed the nice quiet atmosphere, sipping and chatting away like it was our own private bar.

After our dinner and drinks we walked around a bit and soaked in the true Christmas time feeling.

Luckily the drinks helped us stay warm. I’m a Florida girl, my blood is very thin. BUT! It couldn’t have been a more perfect night! The ice rink was out, the beautiful Christmas lights were up, and laughter was in the air. Bedtime that night was midnight, SUCCESS! We are wild :)

We will be back soon, Sequoia! Very soon!

I love hearing from you! Leave a comment below and let's chat :)
