Everyone is obsessed with pho… it’s the new trendy thing to eat. If you don’t know what it is… here’s Wikipedia’s description:
Pho is a Vietnamese noodle soup consisting of broth, linguine-shaped rice noodles called bánh phở, a few herbs, and meat.
The boyfriend and I headed to an award-winning pho restaurant in DC called… Pho DC (creative name, right?)
This is my second visit to this restaurant actually. The first time I accidentally ordered pho with tendons in it… let’s just say I left a lot of my dish untouched. This time, I came prepared and ready to order a non-tendon dish.
We started with “jecket shrimps” which are black tiger shrimp wrapped with marinated ground chicken, white pepper and taro, covered with Crispy thin rice paper. They were delicious! Seriously, I had to refrain from licking my fingers.
For our main dish, we both selected “Pho #4” and I crossed my fingers it would be better than before. It was Pho Tai Chin which is beef noodle soup with well done brisket and rare beef.
The boyfriend devoured it, taking bite after bite, exclaiming he was stuffed, then going back to eat more. He is now a pho lover.
I enjoyed mine, but it still isn’t my favorite kind of food, like many people claim pho to be. I’m not a “broth” person, and although it warmed me up, I wasn’t very satisfied. Next time I go, I will be doubling down on the appetizers and leaving the pho for someone else :)
What are your thoughts on pho?
I really like pho. I usually get a vegetarian tofu version & they have a lot of veggies to keep me filled.

I just recently had Pho for the first time and really enjoyed it, but I almost always pick around the meat and most of the sprouts, so if I ever try it again I think I’ll opt for a non-meat dish! Looks like such a good appetizer too!

I love good pho. But that comes from living in Vietnam for 5 years. It makes a nice breakfast too! :)
