Is it possible to fall in love with a meal? Who am I kidding, of course it is!
I fell in love Saturday night… and then fell straight into a food coma (aka best Saturday night I have had in a while)! Ramen + Sake = Heaven
(Note: there is nothing lady like about how I consumed this meal, but I’m ok with it)
The boyfriend has been talking about ramen for weeks now, he’s been craving it. Saturday as we were walking around Dupont, I saw this little hole in the wall restaurant called OKI Bowl DC & Sake (the website is nothing to write home about, so don’t judge the place on that). That night, guess where we ended up going… That’s right!
Their restaurant is beyond odd (in a good way)! You walk downstairs into a room the size of my bedroom basically where there are 6 tables. Some are communal and others are nestled amongst old bird houses and flashing lights.
We ended up at the end of a communal table with four other 20-something year olds who were doing sake bombs (I have to admit, it looked like fun).
Their menu is perfect for someone who has difficulty making food decisions (like me). It only has 8 main dishes to choose from! We ordered a bottle of sparkling sake, edamame, and two miso ramen dishes!
When the food arrived, I didn’t put my chopsticks and ladle (extra large spoon contraption) down once. I INHALED the ramen in about 4 minutes flat.
As you can see by the bowl, this was no small meal. The boyfriend was barely a third of the way through his when I put down my utensils and proclaimed it was one of the best dishes I’ve had in weeks. About two more cups of sake after that, I was ready for bedtime.
I strongly suggest giving OKI Bowl DC & Sake a try! It greatly exceeded my expectations, and although I will eat a bit slower next time I go, I will for sure be returning soon! I suggest you get the Miso Ramen… and invite me :)
The boyfriend noted they’re open until 3am… probably not wise that he told me that. I know the next time I go out in Dupont I will be ending my evening with a tummy full of heavenly ramen.
I’ve never tried ramen and my husband has only had it once and didn’t care for it, but I’ve been bugging him to try it again so I’m definitely going to keep this place in mind!

I was hesitant at first, but I promise it’s worth it! Plus, there is always sake if you or your husband don’t like the ramen :)
