LA COLOMBE | Sunday mornings in DC

coffee DC la colombe

Ahhh Sunday mornings :) It doesn’t get much better than waking up to a sunny day and an offer from the boyfriend to take you out for coffee and a morning stroll.

Our destination was a surprise! Thank goodness he was leading the way, because there were many back ally twists and turns. And thank goodness I trust him, or else I may start to question where on earth he was taking me.

DC stroll

One the walk we stumbled upon a handful of beautiful murals made out of tiny tiles. I knew wherever we were going, it was going to be cool…

A few more side streets later and we had arrived to a hole-in-the-wall coffee shop with a line that proved it was serving up a hot commodity (how anyone else found this place though was beyond me).

The Google description of La Colombe is spot on, a “trendy neighborhood coffeehouse that offers house-roasted espresso in a sleek, industrial-chic interior.”

Everything at La Colombe was chic and trendy, right down the the barista’s outfits and their specialty coffee contraptions.

I didn’t feel quite cool/artsy/edgy enough to be getting my coffee there, but I stood in line patiently, breathing in the delicious smell of coffee, and eyeing up everyone else in line.

La Colombe to go coffee

With a warm latte in one hand and my boyfriend’s hand in the other, we strolled around, day dreaming about owning a house close by so we could have this coffee every morning. That would be the life!

P.S. Next time I return I will make sure to get pastries! Their croissants looked as fluffy as a cloud :)

So fun! We love wandering around different neighborhoods on the weekends and day dreaming about living there.
