THREE INGREDIENTS | Crock-pot Sriracha BBQ chicken

3 ingredient crock pot

This idea came to me as I was wandering the aisles of Trader Joe’s. I’m lucky enough to have a Trader Joe’s on the main level of the office building I work in, but I’m unlucky because (unlike some people who spend all their money on makeup or fashion) I tend to spend it all at the grocery store. Hey, they do have a darn good wine selection if you ask me!

Anyways, back to the point of this blog. I turned the corner of one of the aisles and found a wall stacked high of this tasty devil…

Trader Joes Sriracha Garlic BBQ

I mean, is it even legal for Trader Joe’s to sell something that sounds this tasty? Sriracha and roasted garlic BBQ sauce! I immediately knew I needed to pick up chicken as well, because this quick trip to the store for a bottle of wine turned into a crock-pot evening (wine still included) :)

Let’s keep it short and simple, since I know your mouth is watering at the knowledge that such a delicious BBQ sauce exists. This recipe involves 3 ingredients and takes 4 hours to cook.

Ready? GO!

– 4 large chicken breasts
– 3/4 bottle of Trader Joe’s organic Sriracha and roasted garlic BBQ sauce
– 3 tablespoons of brown sugar

simple chicken crock pot

Wash the chicken well and place into crock-pot. Pour the sauce on top and cook the chicken for 3.5 hours on high. The chicken should be fully cooked through at this time, so take a fork and knife and shred up the breasts to absorb the sauce.

Stir in your brown sugar and let the chicken cook for the remaining 30 minutes or so.

Clearly this pulled BBQ chicken crock-pot is best served on a warm bun with a side of mac-and-cheese and a brownie (hey, it’s almost time for a Memorial Day cookout). But if you’re trying to keep this a healthier dish, serve it on a bed of lettuce. I did a combo of the two and made some mac-and-cheese to accompany the lettuce :) It just seemed right.

Pulled chicken BBQ

This dish is perfect for dinners, work lunches, and if you are really looking for an adventure, top some eggs with it for breakfast!

Warning: If you try the BBQ sauce, you will fall in love with it

What are your go-to simple recipes lately? My kitchen and tummy are in need of some new dishes.

P.S. Happy Cinco de Mayo :)

Love this recipe Amanda!! I’m going to go fight the crazy crowded Trader Joes just for a bottle of that sauce :) I’m like you I will spend all my money at the grocery store… And Williams and Sonoma.
