LET’S SWEAT | Five reasons you should switch up your workout

tough mudder

I get bored easily, like most people do. If I were to run ever day without a goal or a different running route I would get burned out. One of the best ways I’ve found to stay motivated and active is to continually switch up my workout!

Here are five reasons you should switch up your workout:

1 – You won’t get board
This one has already been explained.. you understand, I think :)

2 – You learn new skills
You could pick up biking, hiking, or tennis! Every time you try a new sport or workout routine you will learn something new. It’s also a great way to impress boys, just saying ;)

3 – You accomplish new goals
People set all kinds of goals when it comes to staying fit! Some people have a certain weight they want to reach, some have a certain number of miles they want to run, etc. For me, I sign up for races and challenges. When I know I have a half marathon coming up in a few months (EEK! I do!) it motivates me to get out and run longer and faster. When I know I have a team counting on me for the Tough Mudder, I spend a bit more time lifting weights to build up my upper body strength. Whatever your “goal” is, make it and meet it!

4 – You use different muscles
When you switch up your workout you use different muscle groups than before. Golfing works on your upper body, running works on your legs, and yoga works on a bit of each muscle! Switch up your routine and get all of your muscles engaged.

5 – You can hang out with friends
I stay motivated when I work out with others. I love going to yoga classes with my roommate, running around DC with my college friend, or playing golf with the boyfriend. Having a partner in crime to try new workouts, running routes, or sports makes it more fun! That reminds me… I need to find one of my friends willing to try a boxing studio that I have had my eye on lately.

How do you switch up your workout to stay motivated?
