BLOGGER’S BLOCK | 35 blog post ideas for when your brain goes blank

35 blog post ideas 2

You sit down to blog, you want to blog, you need to blog… but you literally can’t blog. We’ve all been there. The number of draft blog posts I’ve started with less than even 20 words written is kind of pathetic.

Then there are the days that there are dozens of blog ideas you want to write about running through your brain and you just can’t decide.

I had one of those days last week, which is how this post came to life.

When you feel like there’s nothing in the world to blog about, use this list to kickstart a few ideas. Maybe you won’t even pick one of these 35, but one of them may spark a new idea for you :) And TA DA! You have yourself a blog post idea.

  1. Bucket list
  2. List of things that inspire you
  3. List of books on your bookshelf to read
  4. Product review
  5. OOTD
  6. Share your workout music playlist
  7. Review of a book you recently read
  8. List of your favorite bloggers
  9. Life lessons
  10. Your morning routine
  11. Your week (or weekend) in pictures
  12. Create a 30 day challenge for something
  13. What’s in your bag
  14. Review a local restaurant
  15. Host a giveaway
  16. Share your goals for the month (personal or blog related)
  17. Write about your most popular posts
  18. Share the next place you want to visit
  19. Write a letter to your younger self
  20. New recipe
  21. Photography tips and tricks
  22. Empties post
  23. List of your top read blog posts
  24. Your next vacation
  25. Why you started your blog
  26. FAQ post
  27. Before and after post (could be about anything)
  28. Your favorite apps
  29. List your favorite websites
  30. Vlog
  31. Share your current workout routine
  32. Wishlist (birthday, Christmas, anything!)
  33. Day in the life post
  34. Share your holiday plans (whatever the next holiday is)
  35. A post about post ideas :)

There’s never “nothing” to write about, but sometimes you just need a bit of help to get your fingers typing. I know in a week I’ll sit here thinking, “what the heck will I write about???”, and I’ll be very happy I wrote this post!

How do you come up with blog post ideas when your brain is on the struggle bus? Any go-to blog topics I missed on my list?

I feel like this more times than I’d like to count. My biggest problem is waiting until the last minute to write and finding no words! I definitely want to do an empties post, and I’ve been vlogging some so that’s been fun. Thanks for the suggestions!

A member of a writers group I belonged to years ago once wrote a list of all the things she was doing instead of writing. When I taught writing to little kids–and required them to write for 10 minutes or so– I’d tell them to write about why they weren’t writing. The big lesson was,”if no writing is expected, none will be delivered. “
