WORKOUT PLAYLIST | Preparing for my half marathon

Parc del Guinardó

It’s important to always switch up your workout, but it’s just as important to switch up your playlist as well!

Music helps me get in the mood to pull on running shoes when I’m dreading a workout. Here are my go-to songs to get my head bobbing, my fingers snapping, and my feet running (now that I think about it, I probably look really really weird running).

I have a half marathon coming up in ONE MONTH in DC (waaaaaaa????) so I’m beginning to create a perfect running playlist! The last thing I want to do the night before the race is be up all night trying to remember what songs get me pumped…. been there, done that…

Here are my latest additions to my half marathon running playlist that get my booty shaking and legs moving!

  • Cheerleader by OMI
  • Dear Future Husband by Meghan Trainor
  • Honey, I’m Good by Andy Grammer
  • Want To Want Me by Jason Derulo
  • Shut Up and Dance by Walk the Moon
  • Fight Song by Rachel Platten

I know that most of these songs are probably already out of date, but I don’t mind. I want the perfect playlist for September 20th!

I’ve done one other half marathon in my life, so I’ve learned the importance of playing music you love while dragging your body 13.1 miles down a road, up a few hills, and around turns. I know that at mile 12.5 I’ll be wondering why the heck I signed up for this half marathon and that’s when OMI will bring me through the finish line, making me believe I am his Cheerleader :)

All running song recommendations are welcomed with open arms… also any training tips for running a half marathon :)

This list looks great! Some of my favorite songs from my spin classes are Renegade/x Ambassadors, Hide Away/Daya, Lovin’ so Hard/Becky G and The Night is still Young/Nicki Minaj.

Yes to Walk the Moon! That song is my jam right now and is on my marathon playlist. My go to favorites for any race I do whether it is a half marathon or a full is of course Eye of the Tiger & Gonna Fly Now (Rocky’s Theme). I think even 20 years from now when I hear those songs I won’t be able to help getting pumped!

Hahaha too funny! I know exactly what you mean. I have songs that I know will get me moving even at age 80 :) And Eye of the Tiger is a winner in my book as well!

So true! I can’t run without good music! My current favourites are Runaway (U & I) by Galantis, and Say My Name (feat. Zyra)/Hermitude Remix by ODESZA
