About

anchored to sunshine blog

Hi, my name’s Amanda :) Originally from Florida, until one day I packed up my life and moved to DC on a whim!

Over my last year here i’ve picked up an amazing boyfriend (he technically picked me up but that’s a story for another time), a wonderful roommate, and a number of new friends who’ve helped me/ forced me/ and made me want to officially call DC home.

I work for a branding firm by day and blog by night (actually more like the early early hours of the morning, I’m a morning person). I created this blog to keep track of it all; great restaurants, books, fitness trends, and everything else that happens in a 20-something girl’s (woman’s?) world.

Note: This blog is a work in progress, and always will be.

Some people have elaborate stories behind their blog name, I’m not one of those people. I spent days trying to think of something trendy and cool to name this… but the problem is that I’m not actually super trendy and cool. So I stuck with what I know: I love anchors and I love sunshine (even through I now live in freezing-cold DC). So there you have it, no matter where I am in the world, I will always be Anchored to Sunshine.

Still want to know more about me?

Favorite things:
– lighthouses
– coffee (every morning person has to love coffee)
– anchors (duh)
– snacking
– old people

Least favorite things:
– being late (or when others are late to meet me)
– unmade beds
– driving
– unorganized things
– sleeping in

If you stillll want to know more then you are either a serial killer or think I’m cool…. I only accept the latter :) If you think I’m cool (or you are cool and will bump up my street cred.) follow me here:

Thanks for the follow, Amanda. I hope you will enjoy it. One further item on the Kind granola. I sprinkle a tablespoon of hemp seeds on it. This is a super nutritious addition. I posted on hemp seeds if you aren’t aware of them.

Your blog looks great! I just moved *from* DC (well, Arlington, OK?) to Minnesota. I like it cool and refreshing. :)

Thanks for stopping by again and liking something, Amanda. Your blog looks terrific. I can’t get over how much you get done in terms of work, reading, exercise, etc. As an old guy I get tired just imagining it. Also, must tell you that as a Chicagoan, I have always thought of DC as part of the South. So, it is funny to see you write about it as if you had moved to Alaska. I remember some horrendously hot days there in summers visiting. Keep up the good work!

Thank you so much, that is very kind! And yes, at times DC does feel like Alaska to me haha I don’t think I would last a minute in Chicago during the winter!
