BOOKWORM RECOMMENDATIONS | 5 must-read books of 2015 (so far)

5 must read books of 2015

We’re more than halfway through 2015 (waaaahhh?) and in that time I’ve finished 20 books! (I swear I have a life….)

My Goodreads 2015 Reading Challenge this year is to finish 30 books, so I’m already ahead of schedule :) If you know me, you know I hate to lose a challenge!

Looking back on these last 6 months/ 20 books I’ve read, there are five that I always recommend to others:

1. All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr

I’ve noticed a WWII theme this year in my reading habits. This novel will suck you in instantly and you’ll fall in love with Marie-Laure.

2. What Alice Forgot by Liane Moriarty

This is a beach read and a darn good one! What would you do if you were Alice?

3. Sharp Objects by Gillian Flynn

Gillian Flynn had to be on this list somewhere. You’ve heard the hype about Gone Girl, but it doesn’t stop there! This book is just as twisted, compelling, and addictive.

4. The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah

Again…. my love of WWII novels :) And if you have a sister, this will really pull on your heartstrings!

5. The Silent Sister by Diane Chamberlain

I read this for book club and I loved it. Recommended by my roommate and on dozens of must-read lists for it’s resemblance of Gone Girl, this book will keep you guessing until the end!

What books have you loved so far this year? Did you set a reading goal for 2015?

I loved What Alice Forgot!! So good! If you liked that you should definitely read Big Little Lies (I’m reading it now) and The Husband’s Secret both by the same author as Alice. They are SO good!

I’m planning to download All the Light We Cannot See tomorrow for my trip overseas. I love historical fiction and WWII is one of my favorite topics. I cannot wait to read it!

I’ll have to look into the others you recommended too! :)

I’ve read both of those actually and loved them too!! You have great taste :) All The Light We Cannot See will be a perfect travel book! Your plane flight will fly by (pun intended) haha

After several months of pretty good, I read two of my favorite books of the year so far just this month. Hausfrau by Jill Alexander Essbaum was incredible, and Jon Krakauer’s Missoula was so well done and hugely important.

These are awesome! I love reading, but with a love of Shakespeare and Harper Lee, I think we can all day I’m a bit behind the times, haha! I’m loving Unbroken, which I stole back from my dad after giving it to him for Father’s Day a few years ago, but now I’m pumped about All the Light We Cannot See! I’ve been on a WWII documentary kick lately, ever since the anniversary earlier this year, so that book sounds right up my alley! :)

Harper Lee is always a great choice, I agree :) I got Unbroken for my boyfriend and ended up stealing it for myself after he was done reading it as well! It was an amazing book.

I haven’t read any of these, but they are all floating on my massive to-read list. I’ve heard such amazing things about Kristin Hannah recently. She was never really on my radar before, but that obviously needs to change!

She was never on my radar either… until now! I strongly recommend checking her out!
