GREEN THUMB | Apartment Gardening

Apartment Gradening

One downside of living in an apartment is that you have no yard to plant beautiful things in. I just have a little patio on the 15th floor of an apartment building…

Because of this, I have to be a bit more creative in how I approach “gardening”.

Apartment Gardening by Amy Pennington

My wonderful roommate knows my love for plants (since she commonly walks in the room as I’m talking to them and I have her watch over them when I’m on vacation as if they were little children).

She is also a perfect gift giver! Hence, this birthday gift – Apartment Gardening by Amy Pennington. I’ve learned that just because I don’t have a garden doesn’t mean I can’t garden! The book is filled with tips, tricks, and recipes. It’s very straightforward… :)

One of the first herbs I’ve tackled growing in my apartment is basil, and as you can see (from the picture at the top of the post), I’m going to have a LOT of it!

The book has also taught me how to turn my herbs into a delicious alcoholic beverage :) Maybe I’ll thank my roommate for the kind gift with a vodka basil cocktail!

My basil is growing up a storm so I’ll be ready to make any and ALL dishes (food or beverage) that contain basil as an ingredient very soon! Send all basil recipes my way, please and thank you :)

Love this! And I’m jealous that you have a little patio at least, haha :) I only have a fire escape, so I mostly make do with indoor plants. Great post! :)

So you just bought soil, basil seeds and started watering them? :) No other tricks?

You do have to make sure you find the right balance of water and light, but that’s pretty much it! Shockingly simple!

Thank you :) Funny thing is that it’s actually a french yogurt brand, I turned the terra cotta jar into a pot!
